fudgester SG I'd say that it's mainly disrespectful to your superiors if you ask that their orders be recorded down on tape. It indicates to them that they are forgetful of their own words and that you are forgetful of theirs as well. It also indicates that you mistrust them and fully expect them to go back against their own words. Regardless of what you think of your superiors... tape recording is a big no-no unless if they themselves insist on it first.
hisoka SG but thats the whole rationale of the email trial too. so other than the part where askign permission or being cuaght doing so, its actually the same?
av98m SG there is nothing un-ethical nor is there need to ask for permission to archive whatever's in your email! and unlike audio, there is a time and date stamp!
fudgester SG You have answered your own question here. By asking for a tape recording, you are implying to your bosses that they cannot be trusted since you yourself would be doing the recording. Archived emails, on the other hand, are already known to them without your having to ask permission from them since there is already a tacit agreement that all (or most) emails would be saved on a computer. So digging up some archived emails to confirm their previous orders would still be acceptable so long as you're tactful about it.
hisoka SG so why is it unethical to tape down orders given to you? still no answer. i instinctively think its unethical too, but thinking more, i can't figure out why other than permission.
fudgester SG I've already said it.... even if your boss gives permission, you are still implying to him that he can't be trusted.
av98m SG hello pinky. see hisoka's posts above and see if you want to try to explain to him why one does not go about taping people's conversations at work
Rhonda SG PIiiiinkyyyy!! Good morning, peeps! The advantages of not owning a car here - first thing in the morn and I've already walked for almost half an hour liao!
Rhonda SG I was thinking of it... maybe, it can be construed as an 'infringement of privacy' or something like that? It's one of those things where you know it's unethical unless the person being recorded gives express permission to do so, but I think most of us don't know the exact legal term for stuff like that.
Rhonda SG Well, don't feel that way! You forget that in Club 30, we kinda like to discuss stuff and we do TRY to be objective about it but yeah, sometimes, we end up ripping certain characters apart! Can't help it... half of us in here are evil!
elindra SG Morning Rhonda! You will put back on the weight with a car Hisk, taping down someone's conversation is an infringement of privacy without permission and if you ask, it is likely you will offend the person because it shows that you don't trust them. It's kinda like filming someone without permission is an infringement of privacy Now email is different It's a form of communication and it can be used as a tool to be used for reconfirmation. It is socially acceptable that is why you can use the email. Plus emailing is less personal
choco B SG Now this is arm candy You got it in black? V nice, can see the softness of the leather. This is the Blue Label reversible. Nice, but disadvantage is no clasp to close the bag, it just gapes open bucket-style. Any good buys last night at the warehouse sale?
elindra SG Yes I got it in black And the leather is very very soft. I wouldn't use it daily I don't think it will last I think I prefer yours coz I prefer bags that are longer horizontally and I hate bags that cannot be closed >< Erhmm I didn't go Was thinking of going over on Sat after work just for fun (trying not to go down to be tempted)
